a musical performance for human, digital, analog, and cetacean voices, joined by the angel of history and mysteriously lit, with one dance number
hot salt cold light is a lo-fi rock opera about missed messages, shitty jobs, tech dystopia, rising waters, mass extinction, and loving whales. Composed over strange distances during lockdown by Svetlana Chirkova and Kristin Dombek, and developed this spring at a residency at Art Buoy, Art Port Kingston’s warehouse beside the Hudson. Featuring Chirkova (drums, synth, and vocals), Dombek (keys, bass, and vocals), singer/actors Lindsay Quayle and Brittany K. Allen (also on electric guitar), and Ashley Crawford (flute, saxophone, gong).
10% of ticket proceeds will go to Whale and Dolphin Conservation Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to stopping whaling, creating oceanic nature preserves, and working toward healthier seas.
